Track of the Day 21/4 – Icy Demons

Leaf Label newbies soon to tour UK...

With the ink on their deal with Leaf still wet, Icy Demons are soon to release their ‘Miami Ice’ album in the UK.

The Chicago band’s third album – and first for the British label (Efterklang, Wildbirds & Peacedrums) – finds them filtering many an influence into a cohesive whole that never sits still long enough to be easily pigeonholed.

The group’s core member, and founder, Griffin Rodriguez says of his new album:

“Somebody said that I’m unraveling modern music and perhaps to a degree that’s true – I’m trying to find the roots and discover the archetypes. If you study music throughout time then it becomes a really interesting record of the way a society thinks and acts. I am just trying to reflect that in my own experience. Also, my dad really got me into quantum mechanics and eastern philosophy when I was young, and there is definitely the idea of mysticism and of the world being alive in this record. Music means a lot to me.”

The band – MySpace HERE – tours in May, shortly after the release of ‘Miami Ice’ on April 27. Dates as follows, and sample the track ‘1850’ as our TotD via the player above, download below.
