Track Of The Day 20/5 – Crystal Murray

'Easy Like Before'

Crystal Murray has the world at her feet.

Still only 18 years old, she effortlessly melds together neo-soul, electronics, and jazz to produce something fantastically enticing.

Debut EP 'I Was Wrong' is out now, and it follows a series of storming singles, each one feeling like a true aesthetic statement.

The project is online in full, but Crystal has got a phenomenal new visual to share with fans.

Musically, 'Easy Like Before' is a mesh of contradictions, melding together Chicago house production with some Herbie Hancock style fusion notes on synth.

The vocal pulls everything together, with Crystal's emphatic delivery recalling Erykah Badu or Macy Gray.

The Parisian musician comments: "Right now it’s not good but before it was good. It’s something I spoiled – I wanted it to stay so good so much that I ruined it."

We're able to share the startling, colour-laden visuals, with Crystal telling us:

"This is a home made video clip; made with love and fun. The title goes well with the current situation, it’s a bit ironic in a way."
