The weeds in Tweed. Young Knives come with a barrel-load of preconceptions, a truck load of clichés which seem to get wheeled out when the reviews come rolling in.
Yet this is deeply unfair. Initially indebted to itchy post-punk, the band’s straight-lace, Middle Class image was a reflection of this. A distorted, humorous ideal of English life the group have shifted and evolved.
Now accepting more and more new influences, new album ‘Ornaments From The Silver Arcade’ contains some of the band’s most direct pop moments. Young Knives seem un-ashamed to be melodic, confident enough to try something a little gentler.
Spending the summer on the road, Young Knives have hit festivals across Europe and beyond. The trio are set to approach Autumn in the same fashion, outlining a number of shows to see out the summer.
New single ‘Vision In Rags’ will get the ball rolling. Due for release on September 5th, the track is a rumbling, rolling and deeply acerbic affair – prime Young Knives, in other words.
