The final part of our 5daysof65days series features 'A Failsafe' (live)

The final download in our 5daysof65days TotD series comes from the band’s new live album, ‘Escape From New York’, released on Monday (April 20).

‘A Failsafe’ appears on the 2007 album ‘The Destruction Of Small Ideas’ in its original guise; here, it’s delivered to a packed house as part of 65daysofstatic’s awesome live show, captured on CD and DVD on the ‘Escape…’ release.

The live album comprises something of a stop-gap release as the band work on their fourth studio album – not a makeweight, you understand, given its excellence; more a valuable document of 65days’ continuing progression as a live force to be truly reckoned with.

Says founding band member Paul Wolinski of this live version:

“This usually works really well played out live. This version is scrappy as fuck, even though it was, I dunno, our 70th show in two and a half months or something. This particular song was recorded at Radio
City Music Hall in New York, the last song of the last show of our jaunt around the globe supporting The Cure. It has a nice, scuffy, drum 'n' bass 'n' feedback ending. I can't tell you how satisfying it is to make that kind of noise in that kind of place.”
