The UNKLE story just keeps gaining new chapters.
The loose trip hop collective returned last year with a new album, which seems to have opened the creative floodgates. UNKLE have toured across the nation, including a starring role at Ian Brown’s enormous Platt Fields show.
Releasing new EP ‘The Answer’ on Monday (September 13th) the band have found new ideas to work with. Fresh from a special one off orchestral show UNKLE are still pushing their music in new directions.
‘The Answer’ is surprisingly varied for such a small release. Much more than a mere collection of left overs from album sessions, UNKLE have roped in a number of guest stars for an EP that can stand in its own right.
The band were joined by American rapper Lupe Fiasco for ‘The Runaway’. Far from the first time UNKLE have delved into hip hop, the band’s languid beats wrap themselves around the MC’s flow.
One of the highlights of the new EP, UNKLE update their sonic template for a new era of hip hop. Expect fractured beats, some off the wall samples and of course a star turn from Lupe Fiasco.
