Lou Rhodes is a creative spirit perhaps best known for her role in the pioneering electronic duo Lamb.
An artist keen to explore all shades of sound, the next album from the British artist finds Lou Rhodes working with what is essentially an acid folk realm.
Instrumentation is sparse, acoustic, allowing Lou's voice to meander around the babbling emotional brooks of her lyrical wordplay.
“I had a bunch of songs”, says Rhodes, “but I wasn’t sure which way to go with them. I had a gut feeling I wanted to experiment with a slightly psychedelic feel and, by chance, met up with Simon Byrt (the album’s co-producer) in a friend’s studio. It turned out that he has a strange passion for vintage spring and tape echoes and, before long, we’d decided to make a record together.”
New album 'theyesandeye' will be released on July 22nd, with Clash able to premiere divine new track 'Never Forget'.
Spiralling acoustic guitar arpeggios sit against languid strings, with Lou Rhodes' unhurried, hushed delivery intoning those fragrant, poetic lyrics.
