Abi Wade's compositions seem to come from a deeply individual place.
The songwriter is responsible for drifting, endlessly evolving pieces of music, utilising fragmentary pop vocals, unexpected arrangements and her beloved cello.
New album 'Beautifully Astray' is set to be released on April 6th, and it's a fascinating piece of work, utilising off piste samples, delicately layered sounds and warm acoustic instrumentation.
Based in Brighton, Abi Wade makes use of samples collected along the south coast, eventually ending up on a fishing boat. She explains…
“After the tap dancing class I was explaining to the man who ran it how I was trying to get onto a boat to record some sounds and by pure coincidence it turned out he was a fisherman, I did not expect a tap dancing fisherman! It was truly an amazing experience to go out first thing on to the water and share a moment of time with such an interesting character.”
Clash is able to premiere new song 'A Bit Like Love' and it's a fascinating gateway into her world, an endearingly odd and hopelessly bewitching piece of music.
Tune in now.
