Track of the Day 14/5 – The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart

'Young Adult Friction' from soon-to-tour New Yorkers...

The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart caused quite the stir for themselves last year, with the release of their self-titled LP, reviewed on ClashMusic.com HERE.

Now, the Brooklyn-based group are mounting an assault proper on the UK, with said album earning itself a re-release and the track ‘Young Adult Friction’ released as a single via Fortuna Pop! next week (May 18). Look for it in our singles round up on Monday.

Woozy with retro influences, the band’s sound is nevertheless in tune with a contemporary rock scene as likely to dip its toes into the swirling waters of MBV and the Mary Chain as it is the kraut-repetition of Can et al – just check the great new Horrors album for evidence of a present very much in league with the past. TPOBPAH offer a slightly different take on a ‘classic’ sound, but it’s no less enjoyable.
