Disco sucks!
But not in our house. The disco revival has turned received wisdom about that most maligned of genres on its head, helping to expose a fresh audience to some unjustly neglected sounds.
Take Italo: at the time, Italo Disco was largely pushed to the sidelines, viewed as a novelty. Now crate diggers have unearthed a new seam of electronic music, turning forgotten 12 inches into priceless rarities.
Just as well a new breed of producers are churning out some quality sounds. Taking their cue from vintage Italo, Luca C & Brigante have earned a sterling reputation for producing cosmic sounds.
Releasing a string of 12s, Luca C & Brigante are now counting down towards their new album. ‘Luca C & Brigante present… Invisible Cities’ is set to be released on October 3rd, a varied showcase for the talented duo.
Southern Fried will handle the release, with Luca C & Brigante veering between the cocaine numb of Italo and a blissed out Balearic high. Delving into the roots of dance music, the production team seem to have emerged reinvigorated.
Last year’s ‘Edits EP’ was a suitably energy charged primer. Only giving a limited edition pressing, the EP has long since sold out and don’t expect to see it on record shelves any time soon.
Lead cut ‘Lucio’ is a piece of filthy, pounding Italo production. Today’s Track Of The Day, you can download it for free…
