Track Of The Day 13/2 – Louis Brennan

'Airport Hotel'

Louis Brennan wants to make art that will seep into your bones, songwriting that will interact with your DNA.

Brooding of voice and intense of lyric, his ability to twist and turn a simple phrase can render the most innocent line into something utterly heartbreaking.

A London based Dubliner, his work recalls Leonard Cohen or Phil Ochs in its stark, folk-hewn simplicity.

New single 'Airport Hotel' faces up to the cold reality of loneliness, with Louis singing: “…there’s nothing left to say, just the sound of your voice / I say I’ll never leave her, as if I had a choice…”

There's beauty amid the melancholy, however, with this wisps of strings leaning against his voice to craft something really rather special.

We're able to bring you the video before anyone else – tune in below…

Catch Louis Brennan at the Sebright Arms, London on February 28th.
