It’s been a hell of a summer.
The public dissection of the tabloid press, nationwide riots and – in between – rain, rain and more rain. However the mood of depression lingering across the nation doesn’t seem to have traversed the channel.
Affiliated with Ed Banger, Breakbot emphasises the fun and frisky side of the label. Playful electro house, the producer made his name with a series of remixes including a version of ‘Let There Be Light’ by Justice.
Last year brought a debut EP under his own name, with ‘Baby I’m Yours’ having a definite pop streak. Taking time off to complete a DJ schedule and some CG work, the producer has completed some fresh material.
‘Fantasy’ is out now, with Ed Banger handling the release. The lead cut is fast and furious, a filthy dose of electro that will storm dancefloors across Europe and beyond. Los Angeles based Ruckazoid contributes some vocals, with ‘Fantasy’ capable of clearing those riot-fuelled clouds from the nation’s skies.
Alongside the original the EP contains some fresh remixes, including an effort from Ruckazoid himself. Elsewhere, legendary producer Arthur Baker supplies a tough, street level re-dub.
Attached to the DFA stable, Jacques Renault supplies the pick of the bunch. Seizing on Breakbot’s playful aspects, the producer steers ‘Fantasy’ into the realms of unadulterated disco.
