Glasgow's music community may be big on the outside, but the reality is that everyone knows everyone.
So Gordon Skene and Stuart Dougan would have crossed paths. Former members of Frightened Rabbit and French Wives, the pair hooked up last year and began working on fresh material under the Smash Williams moniker.
Placing two tracks online just before Christmas, Smash Williams seemed to arrive fully formed, with a refreshing maturity informed by past experiences.
Making their live bow at London's Lexington venue this week, Smash Williams have handed a new track to Clash.
'Astronaut' is a solid, muscular piece of mid-paced songwriting, those soothing vocals under-pinned by just a touch of synths.
