Track Of The Day 10/7 – Selmer

'Before You Marry A Person'

Olso's own Selmer is Nordic pop's quiet disrupter.

A DIY innovator, his opaque digi-pop melodies open up fresh space for personal freedom, unpicking elements of the hetero-normative world.

Blissed out and carefree, early cuts such as 'Surfin' With You' and 'New Me' caused a ruckus with their breezy sense of imagination.

New single 'Before You Marry A Person' is next in line, and it's a divine return, one that finds Selmer confidently spreading his wings.

Bold in its restrained palette, the new single dwells on a child-like view of love, boiling relationships down to their simple components.

Selmer says the new single is basically "a song about being in love as a kid and about overthinking the importance of relationships as a nine year old".

The end result, you ask? "Not being able to realise how unlikely a childhood relationship will lead to a marriage."
