'Spirit Now Moves'

Naomi Baguley is perhaps best known for her role with Bruising, but recently she's begun to focus more seriously on her solo endeavours.

Enraptured by cotton wool melody, but still in touch with her DIY roots, there's a lot to come from the Leeds based songwriter.

Using the name Ruthie, new music and plenty of live shows are planned, blending 70s style melodies with a slightly raw production sense.

New single 'Spirit Now Moves' is an evocative introduction, with hints of Tobias Jesso Jr. or McCartney-esque melodies in the keyboard line, set against the pop grace of Carole King.

The full video airs on Clash, opening with a hazy sense of introversion before soaring to a triumphant finale.

“So far Ruthie has been a project based in my flat and studios, writing and recording, so it’s been quite an insular process,” says Naomi. “The ‘Spirit Now Moves’ video is an opportunity for me to explore what Ruthie can be visually and aesthetically, in the real world... and to have a one-woman party wearing suits.”

Filmed in East London and directed by Kamil Dymek, you can watch the video for 'Spirit Now Moves' below.
