Morgan Harper-Jones needs stability in her life.
Hell, we all do – the past 18 months have been a rollercoaster, and have led many, if not most, of us to re-assess aspects of her surroundings.
New song 'Lonely' is part of this. Perfectly weighted alt-soul with a neat jazz twist, it finds Morgan drawing on the palette she grew up with, in order to find focus on her current emotional landscape.
The breathless vocal is endlessly evocative, with the Rochdale artist singing: “Maybe I’m scared of being lonely, I’ll let anybody hold me…”
Recorded with Ezra Collective and produced by Luke Smith, it's a gorgeous return, one that builds on the promise of her 'Breathe' EP while injecting new ideas.
As Morgan puts it: “I just want to shake myself – or give myself a hug. You don’t need to seek out company that doesn’t want to get to know you and is just there to use you.”
Tune in now.
