Odd Morris are part of an explosion of energy in Dublin's music scene right now, a cross-genre assault that is raising expectations and making an international mark.
Truly, though, there's little to compare the four-piece to. Nominally post-punk in their wiry guitar sound, their songwriting has a poetic literacy all of their own.
A band indebted to their surroundings, Odd Morris draw inspiration from those landscapes, and the people they meet along the way.
New single 'Your Four Walls' makes this explicit. A slice of careering guitar pop that plays by its own rules, the song's haphazard structure is tightly wound, daring in its construction.
Daragh Griffin penned the lyrics, billed as "a homage to our buildings and cityscape…"
The song itself started life as a poem, prompted by an old Georgian house, situation over the road from Daragh's Dublin flat.
Odd Morris comment: "The poem speaks of the structure of the house, how it's framework provided a safe place to spend a lifetime. The poem stemming from Daragh doing a painting of this building, and through this new lens of observing, a poem came to mind."
