Track Of The Day 1/7 – Leyma

'Been A Minute'

East London's Leyma can do everything.

A songwriter, vocalist, and producer, his work – jazz-inflected pop with a DIY context – is soulful, sparse, yet wholly immersive.

A full six track project is incoming, with 'Tomorrow's Almost Over' set to demonstrate the three sides of Leyma: The Lovr, The Worst, and The Wise.

New single 'Been A Minute' leads the way, and from its opening chirruping guitar chord it's an addictive summer burner.

Blessed with a gloriously infectious chorus, 'Been A Minute' is a mini-manifesto for what Leyma wants to achieve – poetic, sublime songwriting, delivered with a DIY heart.

The video was crafted in lockdown, drawn and directed by 18 year old Maisey Charlton, while yearning for a state of simplicity.
