Some four years after the release of their acclaimed self-titled debut LP, post-rock-cum-shoegaze foursome Engineers are back to business this month with album number two, ‘Three Fact Finder’.
Released on July 6, the band’s new record was produced alongside Ken Thomas – whose previous credits include Maps and M83, which suits Engineers pretty perfectly – and captures their fiery, ambitious fare quite remarkably. A single, ‘Clean Coloured Wire’, is scheduled for release on July 20, and ahead of that the group will play their first show for two years at London’s Bush Hall, on July 10.
Unfortunate victims of label politics, Engineers’ new release has been delayed by matters beyond the band’s control; now, though, they’re ready and willing to deliver in their singular style. Says bassist Marc Peters on the fans’ encouragement that they kept plugging away:
“We seem to appeal to people in a really deep way – people tell us our music has helped them through intense times in their lives. This is why it was so important to get the album released, it means so much more than the peripheral aspects of releasing records.”
From ‘Three Fact Fader’ we have the track ‘International Dirge’ as our TOTD. That’s quite a title, and it’s quite a song – get it for free below.
