Toro Y Moi has shared new Ben Gibbard collaboration ‘Hollywood’.
The American producer continues his evolution on new album ‘Hole Earth’, which is slated to land on September 6th. A flurry of Stateside dates are planned, with Toro Y Moi recently sharing a bold Kevin Abstract link-up.
The collaborative streak continues on ‘Hollywood’, a wistful piece of indie adjacent introspection that finds Toro Y Moi lost on the titular Los Angeles neighbourhood.
Joined by Death Cab For Cutie lynchpin Ben Gibbard, it’s an affecting piece of songwriting, wistful in its world-building finesse. Toro Y Moi comments…
“I’ve been a fan of Ben’s music for some time now and it only felt right to have him be a part of this record. With the album having themes of angst and nostalgia, ‘Hollywood’ felt like a perfect fit.”

In a bold move, there’s also a second single online – ‘CD-R’ is more in keeping with the producer’s bedroom beats origins. He says:
“‘CD-R’ is a song that pays homage to the days before playlisting and streaming — the days when things were curated by people and not the algorithm.”
