Tommy Down has shared his latest single ‘Do You Want It All,’ released via Declo Grey.
A soothing listen from the Camden-based singer-songwriter, Down pours his heart into each studio session. Exploring the influence of Mazzy Star, Radiohead and Oasis, the musician takes a grungey, psych-rock twist on his instrumentation, sporting distorted acoustics, hazy drum sections and resonant vocal performances.
Gearing up towards his forthcoming EP, Tommy Down proves himself as a versatile force who continues to expand in new directions. Having featured in HBO’s popular drama Industry, the artist flits between jazz to rock and soul, reflecting on his British Ghanaian heritage across the creative process.
A charged offering that revels in pure emotion, Tommy Down speaks on his latest release: “The song draws from some Radiohead tracks like ‘Creep’ but with a shoegazery spin to it. Mazzy Star is also an inspiration. The lyrics are about maintaining your soul and morals in your pursuit to gaining all your worldly possessions and acclaim. Managed to get a Bob Marley quote in there ‘Live for yourself and live in vain but live for others and you will live again’.”
Tune in now.
