'Back In The Crowd' out now

Tom Waits has released 'Back In The Crowd' - the latest single to be taken from 'Bad As Me'.

A truly idiosyncratic talent, each release from Tom Waits is something to be savoured. Announced in typically flamboyant style earlier this year, the singer is preparing to release his new studio album 'Bad As Me' on October 24th.

Releasing the lead single this summer, Tom Waits has now decided to unveil a follow up. Taken from the new album, 'Back In The Crowd' is out now and has a distinctly Spanish flavour.

A romantic ballad, Tom Waits croons over instrumentation augmented by Los Lobos guitarist David Hidalgo. Adding to the feeling of romance, the guitarist also beat out a Latin clave rhythm using his wedding ring on the side of his Jarana - a traditional eight string guitar from Vera Cruz.

Describing the single Tom Waits said recently that 'Back In The Crowd' is "an old fashioned jukebox tune for a slow dance with your girl (or guy).”

The album itself drops on October 24th, with 'Bad As Me' set to be available on CD and digital download. An extended edition will also be available, containing three new songs and a 40 page book of lyrics and photos taken by Waits himself.

The vinyl edition is pressed on 180 gram wax and will contain include the LP and CD plus a full-size 12-page book. Pre-orders for all editions are being taken via the official Tom Waits website.

Hosting a private listening party, Tom Waits has made elements of 'Bad As Me' available to stream ahead of the release. Well, what are you waiting for? Get over there!
