Tom Waits Live Album Plans

'Glitter And Doom' document confirmed

American songwriter Tom Waits has confirmed details of a very special new live album.

Tom Waits is an enigma. Rarely giving interviews, the musician began life as a country rock influenced songwriter. Praised by his peers Waits’ material was covered by the likes of The Eagles and a glittering career beckoned.

However no one reckoned on Tom Waits wilful streak of mis-obedience. The singer took a sharp turn to the left, absorbing jazz influences and introducing elements of chance into his music.

The result was a series of albums that rank with any produced by an American songwriter. Records such as ‘Swordfishtrombones’ regularly chart highly in critical polls while Tom Waits retains a cultural importance that many of his peers lost some time ago.

Tours by the singer are extremely rare. Last year’s ‘Glitter And Doom’ dates saw Tom Waits delight audiences across the world with a series of performances that charted the length and breadth of his career.

Announced with a series of bizarre yet spectacular viral videos on the internet the tour was one of the most ambitious undertakings of Tom Waits’ career.

Now the singer has chosen to release a new live album which compiles 16 tracks from ten different nights of the tour. Intriguingly, the second disc on the album consists of a single track of ‘between song banter’ from the performer.

The album is available to pre-order from his official website now, with fans also able to download eight tracks for free.

Tom Waits is set to release his double live album ‘Glitter And Doom’ on November 24th. Tracklisting is as follows:
