Toddla T has crossed swords with Dancehall kingpin Popcaan on an epic new remix.
There’s nothing ClashMusic love better than a bit of warped, frenzied Dancehall. An under-rated, mis-understood sound the Kingston soundsystems are still a hotbed for frenzied innovation.
Popcaan is one of the biggest figures on Dancehall. Starting as the protege for Vybz Kartel, the artist has managed to reach beyond the confines of the Jamaican scene.
New single ‘Get Gyal Easy’ looks set to be a crossover moment, with the single already play-listed on Radio 1. Toddla T and Cass Lowe have checked in on remix action, and the results are pretty spectacular.
Retaining the buoyant, up tempo atmosphere the pair add in some cartoon synths which border on 8-Bit. Tossing in some bonus Caribbean flavours, Toddla T and Cass Lowe play with the riddim until it comes close to breaking.
