Tkay Maidza’s ‘WUACV’ Has A Venomous Quality

She "woke up and chose violence..."

Tkay Maidza has shared biting new single ‘WUACV’.

The explosive multi-hyphenate is now aligned to 4AD, and her new album ‘Sweet Justice’ will be released on November 3rd. The follow-up to her excellent 2016 debut, the record boasts some emphatic collaborations, with Lolo ZouaïAmber MarkDuckwrthStint and Kaytranada all contributing.

New single ‘WUACV’ finds Tkay at her most imposing, a dark-edged slice of electronic venom. Obliquely pop, it’s a challenging piece of music, the razor-sharp production aligned to an incredible vocal.

As the lyric puts it, Tkay “woke up and chose violence.” She comments: “I wanted to write a song where I could express my bubbling anger toward people who had manipulated me during the last phase of my life.”

The track boasts a glossy monochrome official video directed by Bel Downie – tap in below.
