Ting Tings US Award

Nomination At MTV US Awards

Manchester sensations The Ting Tings are set to cap an incredible year after being nominated for the coveted “Video Of The Year” at the American MTV Awards.

The Ting Tings have emerged from obscurity in 2008 to become one of the Britain’s biggest acts, playing a series of stomping festival sets this summer as their singles one by one scaled the charts. The promo for “Shut Up And Let Me Go” has been shortlisted for an American MTV award, a sign of how far the band have come given that those awards traditionally favour American acts.

The “Video Of The Year” is one of the biggest awards available at the ceremony, and fellow nominees include Britney Spears, The Pussy Cat Dolls, The Jonas Brothers and Chris Brown. In addition to this the group are also nominated for “Best UK Video” alongside heavyweights such as Welsh wonder Duffy and global stars Coldplay.

It’s a run of good news for the band, as they get set to begin an already sold out UK tour and release new single “Be The One” on October 6th, while next weekend sees The Ting Tings play the Reading and Leeds festivals.

The American MTV Awards are set to take place on September 7th in Los Angeles.
