Ting Tings Talk Cover Versions

Band Rework The Gossip

The Ting Tings have been one of the most successful newcomers this year, and in a new interview the band have revealed that they would love it if American goth rocker Marilyn Manson covered their songs.

The Salford two piece have taken the charts by storm with single such as ‘What’s My Name’ and ‘Great DJ’ becoming summer anthems. In a recent radio interview Jules De Martino from the band discussed the group’s cover version of The Gossip’s indie-dance staple ‘Standing In The Way Of Control’.

The Ting Tings’ version of the song appears on a recent ‘Radio 1: Live Lounge’ album, and the group were asked who they would like to see cover their own material. De Martino replied “Marilyn Manson doing ‘Shut Up & Let Me Go’, screaming it out, metal goth style.”

“We had a guitar tech in the States who was a huge Manson fan. We fooled around with him and the idea during sound check. It would work brilliantly!”

Asked about The Gossip, the musician said that “we’re both big fans of The Gossip, ‘Standing…’ was brilliant record and we loved mixing it up with ‘I Got The Power’ by Snap.”

“We performed with The Gossip in Rome along with Annie Lennox. We didn’t meet Annie but had a blast with Beth! I love loving a band then meeting them to find they’re not cocks!”
