Salford band prepare 'Kunst'

Salford pop explosion The Ting Tings are set to name their second album 'Kunst'.

Emerging in the summer of 2008 The Ting Tings scored a series of smash hit singles. Capable of getting under your skin tracks such as 'Shut Up And Let Me Go' sparked a pop phenomenon.

Releasing their hugely successful debut album 'We Stared Nothing' the band found themselves balancing critical and chart acclaim. Taking time off to focus on new material, The Ting Tings have revealed the name for their new album.

In a new interview Katie White and Jules De Martino have revealed that they intend to name their second album 'Kunst'. The pair have been recording in Berlin, and have taken inspiration from a nearby massage parlour.

"Just round the corner to our studio there's a massage parlour, it's called Massage Kunst," De Martino explained. "It's Massage Art, basically ("kunst" translates into English as "art"). We took a picture of that and sent it to our label, saying this is the title of the album. They went berserk" he said.

The Ting Tings have completed a number of songs for their second album. Track titles include 'Help' and 'Hands' with De Martino revealed that new material has an electronic influence.

"We listened back to some of the demos and we thought, hold on a minute, this is sounding too much like we’re rocking out live," De Martino added.

"We bought a couple of old weird synths in New York and smuggled them in our suitcases back to Berlin and they started to come strong on the music."

The Ting Tings are set to release their second album later this year.
