Ting Tings Mourn TOTP

Band Want Show To Return

Salford pop sensations The Ting Tings have demanded the return of legendary chart rundown Top Of The Pops – so long as they are the first band to appear on it.

In an interview with Absolute Radio, Ting Tings member Jules De Martino demanded the return of Top Of The Pops. The drummer and guitarist said “we’ll force our way onto it.”

“Bring back TOTP and let us be the first band to play on it,” he added. The Ting Tings are not the first high profile figure to mourn the death of the chart show. At recent music industry showcase culture secretary Andy Burnham bemoaned the lack of music programming on terrestrial television.

“We need a programme like Top of the Pops again”, he said.

“This was a great thing that was always putting a great mix of new music before the public.”

The Ting Tings have had four Top 40 singles this year, including a number one hit with ‘That’s Not My Name’.
