Ting Tings Hit Number One

They Started Something

Manchester’s latest musical sensations The Ting Tings have scored highly in this week’s charts, with debut album “We Started Nothing” zooming straight in at pole position.

The two piece indie group emerged from their own self promoted gigs, taking place in an abandoned mill in Salford. The shows soon became highly sought after with music industry figures such as Rick Rubin spotted queuing outside. Limited edition debut single “That’s Not My Name” had its full release recently, scoring a number one in the process. Debut album “We Started Nothing” has already scored a number of favorable reviews, and looks set to turn this critical acclaim into sales.

You can read an interview with The Ting Tings, in which the group recall their humble origins and rise to fame, in the current issue of Clash Magazine.

Elsewhere on the charts this week, Duffy’s debut album “Rockferry” sits at number three whilst her new single “Warwick Avenue” breaches the top ten at number seven. Australian drum ‘n’ bass group Pendulum released their new single “Propane Nightmares”, and it sits at number 15.

The comeback trail is looming for two indie giants, with The Fratellis’ new single “Mistress Mable” hitting number 27, whilst The Zutons’ new effort “Always Right Behind You” is, funnily enough, one place behind.
