Tim’s Listening Party To End

That’s all, folks…

Social media phenomenon Tim’s Listening Party is set to come to an end, it has been confirmed.

The idea was dreamed up by Tim Burgess, Charlatans frontman and one of the few people who seemed to use social media in an unfiltered yet positive way. The concept was simple: a band are artist hits ‘play’ and tweets a guide to a classic or new album, song by song.

Coming into its own over lockdown, the Listening Party was a pandemic staple, a rare moment of connection for music fans starved of gigs. For artists, too, it was vital, providing the kind of release only live music could truly give them.

Now it seems the Listening Party era is over. In a post on X, as it’s now called, Tim Burgess brought down the curtain:

From Some Friendly to Wham! The Singles.
1,366 albums that we heard together, over 1,213 days from March 23rd 2020. The Twitter @LlSTENlNG_PARTY was a beautiful thing. Thanks to everyone who joined us x x

The Listening Party spawned a book, and a fandom of its own. It will be missed.
