Sonic Youth guitarist Thurston Moore is set to release a new single as part of the Blank Edition Solo Series.
With Sonic Youth now on hiatus, Thurston Moore has been focussing his energies on numerous new projects. A meditative solo album swiftly followed, while new group Chelsea Light Moving re-connect the guitarist to Noo Yoik punk.
Now Thurston Moore has outlined plans for a one off solo single. Part of the Blank Edition's Solo Series – previous releases include Blurt founder Ted Milton and Douglas Hart – the single will be shrouded in a hand designed sleeve.
Limited to 500 copies, the single contains two tracks with quite diverse points of origin. 'Detonation' seemingly "pays homage to N16 London libertarian and communitarian activists" while on the flip 'Germs Burn' is a "shout to punk rock secret society love."
Recorded and mixed by Orlando Leopard with assistance by Charlie Nash, the single was seemingly laid down in just one day. With Ecstatic Peace Library handling art direction and design, the single is due to be released on February 7th.
Alongside this, Thurston Moore will appear at a special party on the day of release – more information on this as it is revealed.
