Sonic Youth guitarist Thurston Moore is set to provide commentary on collection of promo videos by David Bowie to be shown at the Museum of Modern Art in New York next month.
The glam star recently gifted a number of early films and stills documenting his rise to glam stardom and his subsequent move away from his famous ‘Ziggy Stardust’ phase. The event is in partnership with the exhibition Looking At Music, and is called, logically enough, ‘Thurston Moore Introduces Early Music Videos by David Bowie’.
Bowie worked with iconic photographer Mick Rock on a number of the videos. In addition to Bowie, Rock also shot pivotal musicians such as Iggy Pop and Lou Reed with his camera lens falling on some of modern music’s most famous figures.
Aside from his career as the planet’s most famous avant-garde guitarist, Thurston Moore is also a passionate record collector and is the ideal candidate to introduce the videos.
The event takes place in the Museum of Modern Art, New York, on December 1st.
