Daydream Library Series – the label operated by Thurston Moore and Eva Prinz – is to halt physical releases.
The label sits under the Ecstatic Peace Library bracket, and has become a hub for left-field sounds. It’s the main imprint for Thurston Moore’s work, with the revered avant rock guitarist releasing his rather-fine album ‘Flow Critical Lucidity’ earlier this year.
Looking into 2025, the imprint has decided to make a fundamental change – it will no longer release physical editions.
Thurston Moore and Eva Prinz have confirmed the shift, highlighting a need for independent art communities to support eco-conscious ethics.
In a note, Eva Prinz said “artists are climate activists and no longer complicit knowing their art recorded to compact discs will sit in landfills taking centuries to decompose.”
She encouraged the independent community to “collect vintage records, and make fewer plastics and new albums. There isn’t any more time to lose. All industries must get behind respecting precious resources of this planet.”
Thurston Moore is of course an arch vinyl collector, and you can read more on his collection HERE.
Daydream Library Series welcomes the appointment of a New Artist Liaison, Reed Smidebush, who will oversee their digital push.
