Music crafted by Thom Yorke for a Rag & Bones fashion show has emerged online.
Last year Thom Yorke was approached to provide the music for a Rag & Bones runway show. Intriguing, the Radiohead frontman agreed to craft some new music, which was then played as models paraded the brand’s latest collection.
An unexpected move from the songwriter, it seems that Thom Yorke used the show as an opportunity to experiment with electronics. Two songs have emerged from the soundtrack (via Disco Naivete), with both ‘Twist’ and ‘Stuck Together’ being mastered by ATease member Datatronic.
Emerging online, ‘Twist’ finds Thom Yorke employing scattered vocal samples. An obvious parallel would be Burial, who the singer of course collaborated with last year, but there are antecedents in Yorke’s own work – ‘The Eraser’ album, for example.
‘Stuck Together’ contains a credit for Jonny Greenwood, and the track is far less beat driven. Vocal samples amount to little more than the occasional sigh, with the distorted tape effects having more in common with producers such as James Ferarro.
