This Short Film On Yussef Kamaal Is Beautiful

Behind the scenes at a triumphant show...

A new short film focussing on Yussef Kamaal has emerged online.

The jazz project released their debut album 'Black Focus' last year, and it quickly became a totemic release, a wonderfully future-facing statement.

Part of a fresh wave of energy in UK jazz, the project burned itself out earlier this year, with live shows coming to an end and the various members launching fresh projects.

Film maker Yuan Hu went backstage at their sold out show in Islington Assembly Rooms earlier this year, matching live footage against some intimate interviews.

The results are beautifully pieced together and emotionally charged. A vivid picture of a highly talented group, you're left to marvel at their achievements and wonder what could have come next.

Tune in now.

Yussef Dayes will play Church Of Sound's event in Hackney, London this Friday (September 8th).
