This BBC Archive Auction Is The Stuff Of Vinyl Dreams

It's a crate-digger's delight...

A new auction sees thousands of rare vinyl artefacts from the BBC archive go on sale.

The sale is led by Omega Auctions, who have been granted to the BBC archive. Sifting through countless pieces of electronic kit, memorabilia, and of course vinyl records, the auction house is ready to present a series of online sales.

It’s the stuff of dreams for collectors. On first glance it moves between hard-to-find analogue kit and vital LPs, each sourced from one of the best music archives on the planet.

The first selection is open for bids right now, and you can grab everything from a 1930s BBC stopwatch through to a pristine copy of the Stone Roses debut album.

It’s part of the BBC’s attempts to streamline and better protect its archive. In a note, Omega Auctions make clear: “this does not constitute the entirety of the BBC’s vinyl archive which is very much still intact. This is largely the duplicate copies of LPs – so that collection can be moved and better stored for the future.”
