Third Man x Impossible Project Detail New Exhibition

Featuring three acclaimed photographers...

Third Man Records and The Impossible Project each hold the physical artefact close to their heart.

Third Man deify the vinyl record, while The Impossible Project craft photographic film at their factory in Enschede, the Netherlands, using original Polaroid machines and new recipes.

Now, the twin organisations will cross swords to host a new exhibition. Third Man x The Impossible Project will craft their own film, and let three acclaimed photographers use it for shoots of their own devising.

The results will be brought together for the new exhibition, launching at Third Man's Nashville HQ on September 10th. The photographers are New York-based photographer Patrick Pantano, who shot the cover photos for the White Stripes’ 'Elephant' and 'White Blood Cells' albums; musician and tour photographer David Swanson who has worked as Terry Richardson’s assistant, and Third Man’s own Angelina Castillo.

Jack White: "Photography using mechanical means is a beautiful art form. Digital pictures are very portable and easy to make happen, but you can’t hold the photo in your hand, or put it in a family album. There’s a romantic feeling of pulling a photograph out of a polaroid camera, holding it your hands and showing it to others. It can’t be replaced or replicated."
