The Who are set to team up with Liam Gallagher’s label Pretty green for a new project.
‘Quadrophenia’ had an incredible impact on British pop culture. For the first time, a major group looked back on a specific youth sub-culture while also analysing their own rise to prominence.
The Who enshrined Mod culture forever, helping to inspire the 1979 motion picture and a full blown Mod revival. Expanded into a massive Director’s Cut box set, the band are hosting a number of one off events to coincide.
Pretty Green are set to host a one off exhibition inspired by the album, using some rarely seen memorabilia. Alongside a specially made parka, the clothing brand will host Pete Townshend’s archives of notes, desk diaries, photos and original lyrics from the making of ‘Quadrophenia’.
Speaking about the collaboration, Liam Gallagher emphasised how love of The Who. “As I’m a massive fan of The Who, and with Quadrophenia being one of my favourite albums of all time, it’s an honour to be associated.”
The two have some close connections. Oasis used The Who’s classic single ‘My Generation’ as a concert stalwart while the two bands also shared drummer Zac Starkey for a short period.
Held in Pretty Green’s flagship London store on Carnaby Street, the exhibition is set to open to the public on October 27th. Running across the festive season to the New Year, the ‘Quadrophenia’ exhibition closes on January 31st.
