Manchester dance rockers The Whip have spoken about their forthcoming second album.
Manchester must sit on a leyline, connecting the mystical worlds of dance and rock. The city seems to specialise in breaking down boundaries, producing groups such as The Whip are who are equally at home in the live arena or producing music for the dancefloor.
Debut album ‘X Marks Destination’ was a superb introduction to the group, with The Whip proving that they are more than just a red hot live attraction.
Taking time off to work on new material, the band recently broke cover to play a hometown show at the FAC 251 venue. The Whip are due to play a special show with the JD Set, and have spoken about their new material.
“It’s going really good. We’ve been writing it basically since we finished the other one (‘X Marks Destination’ – 2008). It’s almost two years of writing” revealed Bruce Carter.
“We’ve been writing a lot when we’ve been on the road. We were pretty much on tour for two years, so it’s only the last few months we’ve really been able to concentrate, pushing our demos a bit further.”
Continuing, The Whip star revealed that new material could creep out by the end of the year. “We want to get a new album out by the end of the year, but this is perfect rest for us” he claimed. “Perfect for to just relax and enjoy writing and putting music together with different people is great. As soon as our album is out, we want to be just touring non-stop again. We’re looking forward to it.”
