The Weeknd Teases New Album ‘unprepared certainty’

The first clip is here...

The Weeknd has begun teasing new album ‘unprepared certainty’.

Abel Tesfaye has been working on the record for some time now, sharing a handful of details online. The Weeknd’s previous album ‘Dawn FM’ landed back in 2022, a project that thrived on immediacy. In our review at the time, CLASH wrote:

After mind-boggling critical and commercial success that most artists dream of, The Weeknd has delivered ‘Dawn FM’ (2022), the purgatorial sequel to ‘After Hours’. The question remains: where can an artist go when he’s already seemingly reached his peak? ‘Dawn FM’ (2022) shows us The Weeknd stuck in limbo, with nowhere else but his thoughts and a lonely radio soundtracking his memories.

Chatting to fans on Twitter / x, the Canadian artist queried: “[I] wonder… did you know you’re experiencing a new trilogy?”

Now it seems a new part of this triptych of incoming. A clip went live overnight, with a sound that harks back to the enigma of his opening era.

Check out the clip below.

Fans have – predictably – gone wild for the clip, with one account writing:

Titled ‘unprepared certainty’ it comes as The Weeknd builds towards a one-off show in the Brazilian city of São Paulo on September 7th.
