The View have spoken to ClashMusic about the impact producer Youth has had on their third album.
Releasing their second album ‘Which Bitch?’ in 2008, The View were clearly in the mood to experiment. The Dundonian indie scamps recruited an orchestra, and also began rapping – though not at the same time.
Broadening their horizons, The View matched this with a ferocious work ethic. Touring across the country, the band left a trail of rock ‘n’ roll inspired carnage behind them.
Retreating to the studio to work on their third album, the band have opted to work with producer Youth instead of Owen Morris – responsible for their previous efforts. It seems that the change of approach has impacted upon their songwriting.
Bassist Kieran Webster explained: “We always have a middle-eight but he’d sorta want to make it a bit more freaky than normal. Half-timed some of them, changed the key signature on some of them.”
The View have already debuted several new tracks during their live shows. Appearing at T In The Park this summer, the band dropped in two unheard songs which appeared to go down well with the Balado faithful.
Preparing to release their new album early next year, The View have confirmed a massive comeback tour. Taking in some smaller venues, singer Kyle Falconer is simply desperate to get back out on the road.
“Even if they are small venues or big venues we’re still gonna tour the arse off it, cos we never worked this hard not to do it” he said.
