Dundonian indie rascals The View are attempting to travel to SXSW next year, but their appearance is in doubt due to visa issues.
SXSW is one of the world’s largest and most important music showcase events. Held in Austin, Texas virtually every free space in the city is given over to music with performers from all genres gathering on the Southern metropolis.
The View are attempting once again to play the event, but their appearance is in doubt due to ongoing visa issues. The band have been booked for SXSW, but the show is dependant on the band gaining permission to enter the United States.
“They (The View) are hoping that this time they will get the go-ahead from embassy officials” a band insider told The Daily Record. “Kyle (Falconer) has kept his nose clean. He’s been a very good boy and this is what they hope will make the difference.”
Kyle Falconer has been at the centre of visa issues in the past. The singer was convicted for possessing cocaine early in the band’s career, and this incident has haunted both Falconer and the group.
Denied permission to tour the United States The View have instead focussed on causing bedlam across Britain. Currently working on their third album, the band are planning to release it before the festival season.
“We’re hoping to get the album out before the festival season if it kills us.” said guitarist Pete Reilly. “We are beating tunes out right, left and centre, even if we wake up in the middle of the night with an idea for a song.”
