Kyle Falconer from Dundonian indie pop scamps The View is set to work on Mark Ronson’s new album, ClashMusic can exclusively reveal.
The View burst out of Dundee with a belly full of ambition in the summer of 2006. Debut single ‘Wasted Little DJs’ went screaming up the charts, while the band’s live shows were fast becoming the stuff of rock ‘n’ roll myth.
Returning with their new album ‘Which Bitch?’ this year, The View seemed to have matured somewhat. Retaining their strident indie pop the band began experimenting with orchestras, folk shanties and more.
Currently locked away in Liverpool, ClashMusic caught up with singer Kyle Falconer backstage at the Tartan Clef awards in Glasgow recently to find out his plans.
Confirming that the group were working on their third album the singer also revealed that he was working on a new tracks with Mark Ronson and The Zutons songwriter Dave McCabe.
“He’s just got like some tunes that Dave McCain has been writing. I’ve been helping them out a wee bit” Kyle Falconer said.
“It’s Mark Ronson’s project” the singer continued. “A lot of people are involved and I’m one of them, so I just come out and like sing for them. He’s dead nice, he’s not very hands on in the studio – he’ll just say what’s going down.”
“He’s not the kind of producer that if you lived in a school singing he could tell if you were missing out a semi-tone or if you are missing some sort of minor scale he’ll go “no you’re getting it wrong”. Sometimes when you’re getting a bit pissed off he’ll step in, he can be a bit sort of hands on I suppose, but he knows what’s going down anyway.”
“A lot of people kinda mess him but he’s the nicest person in the world and he makes fucking fantastic records as well.”
