The View For Tartan Clef

Nordoff Robbins awards show details

Dundonian indie pop rascals The View are to join in on a special collaboration for the Nordoff Robbins awards.

Music may be the backdrop to our daily lives but for many it is more important than that. Nordoff Robbins is a charity who used music as a tool in aiding the recovery of those with afflicted with poor health.

Often very young, those involved in Nordoff Robbins schemes benefit from one on one help from specialist helpers. Over the years the charity has held many special events, including its annual Tartan Clefs.

Aimed at rewarding some of the most talented names in Scottish music, this year’s awards show has been given an extra special twist as part of the Homecoming Scotland event.

Featuring a raft of sensational performances this year’s Tartan Clef Awards look to be one of the highlights in another stunning year for Scottish music. Dundonian indie rascals The View released their second album ‘Which Bitch?’ earlier in 2009, spawning the hit single ‘5 Rebeccas’.

The band are set to star at this year’s event in Glasgow’s SECC, performing alongside Fife troubadour King Creosote. Amongst the other names set to appear at the event are Hamilton born Mott The Hoople rocker Ian Hunter and Glasgow band Lloyd Cole And The Commotions.

Legendary fundraiser Donald MacLeod described his delight at the line up. “We’re excited to have such a fantastic line-up for this year’s Homecoming Scotland Tartan Clef Awards. Last year’s awards raised £93,000 for Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy in Scotland and this year we hope to raise even more!”

Meanwhile Nordoff Robbins spokesperson Janet Halton outlined the difference the money raised by the event makes. “The money raised at the Tartan Clef Awards will ensure that Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy in Scotland can continue to develop and expand its work with hundreds of adults and children in need across the country. We are thrilled with the support we have received this year and look forward to the Awards ceremony on the 27th November, with so many exciting acts coming along on the night.”

Nordoff Robbins Tartan Clef awards take place in Glasgow’s SECC venue on November 27th.
