The Very Best Album Preview

Grab 'We OK' now...

Ahead of the release of The Very Best’s second album ‘MTMTMK’, the band have given a glimpse of what the new record will sound like through ‘We OK’.

The track is a typically bright, insatiably danceable and summery affair that features Somalian-Canadian rapper K’naan and was co-written by American pop star Bruno Mars.
This isn’t the first time big names have collaborated with the pair, as Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig featured on their biggest hit ‘Warm Heart Of Africa’, and the new album features other guest appearances from Amadou & Mariam and Baaba Maal.

The track is the third song to be shared from ‘MTMTMK’, following the singles ‘Yoshua Alikuti’ and ‘Kondaine’, which features TVB’s Johan, Esau, and guest vocalist Seye on a tripped-out adventure in Northern Kenya.

Malawian singer Esau Mwamwaya and London-based Swedish producer Johan Hugo, who met whilst haggling over a bike in London, recorded MTMTMK over five weeks in Esau’s hometown of Lilongwe, Malawi. “We had to make a big step with the second album, we had to evolve,” Johan notes. “This time we wrote, produced and recorded together simultaneously — the way it should be done. It was a much more collaborative effort.”

‘MTMTMK’ is released 16th July on Moshi Moshi.
