A strange, beguiling beast, The Vaselines second wind has seen the Scottish group gain some hard earned success.
Splitting in the same week debut album 'Dum Dum' was released, patronage from Nirvana saw Sub Pop recently a compilation album in 1992.
Almost a decade later, the Scottish group reformed for a series of live shows, and – eventually – released new album 'Enter The Vaselines' in 2010.
Taking their time, the group are set to release their third album this year. 'V For Vaselines' was seemingly inspired by stumbling across a Ramones covers band in their native Glasgow; "after that", explains Eugene Kelly, "I just wanted to write some really short punk rock songs, just get into people’s ear really straight away, and then get out of there really quickly."
Due for release on September 29th, 'V For Vaselines' was self-produced at the Castle of Doom studio in Glasgow and features musical contributions from Michael McGaughrin (1990s), Frank Macdonald (Teenage Fanclub), Stevie Jackson (Belle & Sebastian), Graeme Smillie (Olympic Swimmers), Paul Foley (Mandrake Shepherd) and Scott Patterson (Sons & Daughters).
