The Vaccines and Two Door Cinema Club are set to lock horns in a closely fought chart battle.
2012 has witnessed guitar bands being wiped off the charts. Pop, hip hop and R&B have been dominant with few – if any – large releases managing to make it through unscathed.
However this week looks slightly different. The Vaccines and Two Door Cinema Club both released their second album on Monday (September 3rd) and a closely fought chart battle has ensured.
On paper, the two acts share certain similarities: both have built their career through their live show, massing vast armies of fans without notching up any significant chart breakthrough.
Which is partly why this week is so interesting. The spotlight will fall on both The Vaccines and Two Door Cinema Club, with pre-order sales alone pushing the pair comfortably out at the top of the charts.
According to the Official Chart Company, The Vaccines are slightly ahead with ‘The Vaccines Come Of Age’ claiming the number one slot. Two Door Cinema Club are behind at number two but remember – those all important weekend sales have yet to be counted.
Who will emerge victorious? Tune in on Sunday night…
