The Vaccines have won the latest chart battle, with new album ‘Come Of Age’ breezing into the countdown at number one.
It’s not been a vintage year for British guitar music. The charts are awash with slickly produced pop and R&B, with indie releases becoming increasingly sidelined.
So the past week has come as a pleasant surprise. The Vaccines and Two Door Cinema Club went head to head, with each band attempting to secure the first number one placing of their career.
‘Come Of Age’ came flying out the traps, with pre-order sales placing it at number one on the mid-week charts. However Two Door Cinema Club put up a real fight, with the race too tight to call as the final countdown dawned.
In the end, though, there can only be one winner. The Vaccines are this week’s number one album, with Two Door Cinema Club taking second place. (via Official Chart Company)
