The Vaccines have posted new track 'Melody Calling' online – listen to it now.
Touring across the United States can completely change the way a band make music. Perhaps it's the wide open space, or being surrounded by such a vibrant musical heritage – either way, those long bus journeys can turned expectations inside out.
It seems that The Vaccines are the latest to fall under that American spell. Spending the bulk of 2013 on the road, the band took time off to record some fresh material.
Working with producers John Hill (Rihanna, MIA, Santigold) and Rich Costey (Muse, Franz Ferdinand, Arctic Monkeys) The Vaccines laid down new songs at at Eldorado Studios in Burbank, L.A. Debuted on their UK arena tour, 'Melody Calling' opens with a strident acoustic guitar, with the band seeming to favour a more open, less restrained sound.
Gone are the thundering riffs of yore, and in its place a contentment to focus on songwriting in a very classic, West Coast sense.
Listen to it now.
The Vaccines are set to play Glastonbury this weekend.
