Dance-rock titans The Sunshine Underground are set to return with a new single, album and a lengthy UK tour.
Dance and rock have never been easy bedfellows. For every New Order effortlessly blending the dancefloor with the gig venue there’s been a Soup Dragons – hopping on a bandwagon clutching a drum machine.
However The Sunshine Underground were more genuine than most. Taking their name from a Chemical Brothers song the group’s debut album ‘Raise The Alarm’ was released in 2006 to warm acclaim.
Spawning the hit single ‘Commercial Breakdown’ the band seemed unstoppable. But soon after The Sunshine Underground returned to the studio, rarely emerging since.
Recently supporting The Happy Mondays the band debuted a number of new tracks. The Sunshine Underground have also teamed up with FC Kahuna for a free download, containing a sample of Aphex Twin.
Now due to return in 2010, The Sunshine Underground have spent a staggering four years on their new album. In November the group will preview the new album with a new EP titled ‘Everything Right Now’.
A five track EP the release will include the song ‘Coming To Save You’. The Sunshine Underground will support the release with a series of free shows which will be announced just 24 hours in advance.
